Climate Change is increasing the number, severity and duration of natural disasters in California. We’ll show you how preparing for climate impacts makes communities healthier and more resilient. Don’t be caught unprepared! How well you and your family prepare for disasters before they happen impacts how quickly you recover.
Examples of topics to be discussed:
• What types of disasters happen in our area
• Unfounded disaster myths
• Why climate change is causing more disasters
• How preparedness makes our community healthier and more resilient (ability to recover from disasters)
• Critical steps to preparedness
• How to stay informed and know what to do
• How to make a family emergency plan
• Making a Go Bag of emergency supplies to take with you
• Making a Stay at Home Kit of emergency supplies
• How to get involved by training, equipping, encouraging others to prepare, and becoming a disaster volunteer
Building Resilient Communities is proud to be a part of a network of organizations ensuring that communities are ready in the event of a crisis. We currently provide disaster preparedness tools, resources, and updates on emergency situations to hundreds of faith, community, and business leaders. When fires start, floods occur, the earth shakes, pandemics strike, or communities experience violence, we provide thousands of people with the information they need to stay safe.
