More than 1,000 community members joined ANCA'S Earth Day Celebration this year - our largest turnout ever! Families, students, volunteers, nonprofits, local businesses, and faith communities came together for a day filled with hands-on projects, learning opportunities, and community connection.
Earth Day Highlights
• Pre-Earth Day events-the Open Mic Poetry Night at Frugal Frigate and the Climate Cafe at Olive Avenue Market drew standing-room-only crowds. Watch for selected poems to be posted on the Earth Day website soon:
• Nearly 60 volunteers from Sunrise Rotary and Kaiser Permanente helped build berms and restore the butterfly garden at Burrage Mansion.
• The celebration featured more than 40 information tables, delicious food trucks, and live music from Pickle and Bean
• ANCA's Repair Cafe tied its all-time record for items repaired in a single day!
Thank you to everyone who volunteered, hosted projects, sponsored activities, or simply came out to participate. Together, we are building momentum for a healthier and more resilient future.
"I am pleased to see the broad-based participation of Redlands organizations in hosting more than 30 hands-on and educational projects that will help address the impacts of climate change. I believe that this can have a lasting impact on our community and better prepare us for an uncertain future."
"I strongly believe that our residents favor city efforts to reduce climate impacts and, furthermore, I believe that most residents would like to know what they can do to help in this effort."
"I want to encourage residents to participate on Earth Day in one of the many projects being offered and to continue to take action year-round."
Mayor Eddie Tejeda, Redlands Community News
"The city of Redlands will be celebrating A Day of Climate Action in Redlands, offering volunteers for hands-on experience in the community to help alleviate climate impacts and reduce carbon emissions. Those interested can sign up to participate on the Redlands Earth Day Website. Projects such as composting, planting trees and working with native plants will occur in the morning and be completed by noon. The event will conclude with free lunch for participants at Smiley Park beginning at 12:30 pm, along with activities for children and informational tables."
